God Spits, Too

In your life's journey, I’d like you to pause and allow Jesus to search you and reveal who you are in Christ to you. Taking time out to search and know who you are and who God says you are is one of the most important steps you should take as a Christian who hopes to gain the kingdom of God.

As you do your inner search and reflection, I’d like us to come to terms with one fact that PEOPLE USUALLY DON'T RE-SWALLOW THEIR SPIT.

If you agree that once we spit out we don't go back to the ground and take back our spit into our mouths, then check yourself and be sure that you are not a lukewarm Christian. The Bible tells us that God will spew out lukewarm Christians. Revelation 3:16

Any Christian who is neither hot nor cold will be spit out by Christ. Since humans don't RESWALLOW their spit, I am afraid God may also not RESWALLOW a lukewarm Christian that is spew out of His system.

SPIT means to force saliva out of one's mouth; SPEW means to cast forth, eject, or vomit.  Usually we spit or spew that which is distasteful in our mouth. This is to say that lukewarmness is distasteful to God and that's why God would spit it out.  Do you find yourself to be lukewarm?

The Lukewarm Christian is one who is not enthusiastic about things of God. This person is neither completely dead nor full of zeal; neither hot nor cold; they are indifferent and are completely careless about godly matters.

Try to understand, friend, our lukewarmness brings nausea to God and He fells like vomiting us out of His love, protection, kindness, will and kingdom. Deuteronomy 6:5 says we should serve the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and might. Are you giving to God all it takes to please Him or you are in the middle of nowhere in your relationship?  It is the will of God that you and I be fervent in spirit and not be slothful in diligence. See Romans 12:11 God wants us to be hot for Him – spiritually zealous (zest) for the things of Christ.

A lukewarm Christian is one who neither provides healing nor refreshing to the body of Christ. They only cause nausea. This person is useless to their church and to God. There is no strength in them and they neither participate in any activity that brings progress to the body of believers nor do they look forward to receiving anything special from God.

Revelation 3:17 explains the attitude and confidence of the lukewarm. They are the ones who say, “I am rich”, trusting in what they have; “I have ability to increase my wealth”, forgetting that their abilities are given to them by God. They seek their security in their talents, abilities, human resources, etc. Because one is not in any major problem and one is kind of comfortable, one sees no need to move close to God or do exploit for Him. One says “no big deal”, all is well, why do I need to pray and seek the face of God? Why do I need to study the word of God daily, after all I'm doing well? Unfortunately, God considers such Christian a pitiable person.

Verse 18 suggests to us that Christ can help us out of our lukewarmness. He advises us to come back to Him and get life. Isaiah 53:1-3 says we can come and buy without price.

The advise I have for you is to see yourself and ask for Christ's help to become zealous for Him. Verse 19 asks us to be zealous and repent

1 Peter 2:12 and Titus 2:14 ask us to be zealous for good works
Romans 12:12 says we should be zealous in prayer and
Psalm 19: 7,10-11 say we should be fervent in the word of God.

Don't be useless. God vomits useless people as we vomit useless things. All that have ears, let them hear what the spirit tells them now. May we receive the mercy of God to become zealous in Him and not be spit out. Remember, the lukewarm shall be spit out and the chance of their being put in God's system is next to zero. May God not spit us out. Amen. Rise up and begin to do something for God. Tell someone that Jesus is Lord and do good to all people.
